Our joints are responsible for connecting our bones and provide support to our body while helping us move. If injured or in any way affected, the joints can cause a lot of pain. The main source of joint pain are inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, bursitis or gout. Join pain can range from mild to severe, and severely affects our ability to move.
Luckily, there is an effective natural remedy against joint pain – a mixture of cayenne pepper and warm olive oil can relieve the pain in just a short time due to the active ingredient of cayenne pepper called capsaicin. Here’s how to prepare the remedy:
- ¼ of a cup of warm olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper powder
Add the cayenne pepper powder into the cup of warm olive oil, then apply the remedy on your joints and let it work for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water in the end. You should feel relief after the first application, but use the remedy 2-3 times a day for best results.
The remedy works due to the capsaicin blocking the neurotransmitter called substance P. which sends pain signals to the brain. By blocking its action, the brain doesn’t respond, meaning that there’s no pain as well.
Note: the burning sensation after applying the mixture is expected. If you have sensitive skin, proceed with caution and wear gloves when preparing the mixture. Avoid any contact with your eyes, and never apply the remedy on open wounds.
