by The Alternative Daily

The holiday season has officially arrived and you, like many others, may be feeling the weight of gift-hunting, office parties, school performances and the like. All this stress is absorbed by your body can can leave you feeling anything but merry!

What you really need is a holiday detox drink that will not only help revive you but also provide a myriad of health benefits. You will see, in no time you will be back in full swing and ready to face whatever the season tosses your way!

The power of juicing

Here are five reasons to start juicing today

You’ll be more likely to get your six to eight. It may seem nearly impossible to consume this many servings of produce each day. However, research has found that implementing vegetable juice into one’s diet is both a practical and acceptable way for many adults to consume a diet more in line with a healthy and disease-free lifestyle.

Most produce is more nutrient-dense when consumed raw. The way many Americans consume their vegetables is cooked, which can deactivate important enzymes. But who is realistically going to nosh on a raw beet? Juicing allows you to enjoy the full benefits of raw fruits and vegetables without the hassle of actually chewing them.

Fresh juices aid in cancer and disease prevention. According to the Stanford Cancer Institute, fresh vegetable juice is loaded with cancer-fighting phytochemicals and vitamins. You would have to eat five cups of carrots to yield the same benefits from drinking one cup of juice.

Juices help you detoxify and lose weight. While juice fasts are not recommended for everyone, incorporating juices into your diet will help detoxify your body and can aid in weight loss. A diet high in fats and processed carbohydrates puts a great strain on organs such as the liver, where fat is metabolized.

When the liver is in such an overworked state, it cannot efficiently metabolize fat, which keeps you from losing weight. The nutrients found in many juices can help detoxify your liver and jump-start your weight loss.

You’ll be more hydrated. Juices are meant to be sipped slowly. Replacing a dehydrating cola with a fresh juice will keep you hydrated far better than other sugar-laden beverages.

Juicing is efficient. There’s no denying that juicing is one of the easiest ways to improve your diet. Cooking and preparing vegetables takes time and can take even more time to eat if you’re on the go. Juicing allows you to supplement your diet in an easy way.

Superpower ingredient

Although there are a number of really healthy juicing ingredients such as greens, ginger, carrots, apples, citrus etc., there is one ingredient that you may not have ever even thought of juicing…

The main ingredient in the following special holiday detox juices is a raw plant that if discovered in the rainforest today would be revelled for its potent therapeutic properties. Unfortunately, this particular plant has been persecuted for a very long time, and it is just now becoming increasingly evident what value our country has passed up because of nonsensical legislation and lies.

All plants, according to author and speaker Michael Pollan, have an astounding ability to nourish us, poison us, calm our nerves, delight our senses or even change our experience of consciousness. Cannabis Sativa L. is just one of thousands of plants that are packed with beneficial nutrients and therapeutic value, that has been, up until only recently, all but ignored.

How can I benefit from juicing raw cannabis?

There are over 480 natural components within the Cannabis Sativa plant – more than 70 have been classified as “cannabinoids,” unique chemicals to this plant. Perhaps the best known, or at least most talked about, of these chemicals is THC, the substance that is mainly responsible for the psychoactive effects of the plant.

However, it is the lesser known compounds, CBD and THCV, found in the leaves and tri-chrome covered flowers of the raw plant, that deliver the nutritional and therapeutic punch.

The great news is that these substances are non-psychoactive. In fact, these non-psychoactive compounds found in the buds and the leaves are loaded with antioxidants. CBD has been found to be a strong anti-cancer compound that has the ability to prevent and reverse a number of chronic illnesses.

What if I am healthy?

While it is true that cannabis has been seen as a treatment for a number of chronic diseases, using it preventatively is a fabulous way to maintain health and keep disease at bay.

Here are just a few reasons why raw cannabis is such a powerful supplement:
  • Raw cannabis will help boost your energy
  • Raw cannabis is loaded with antioxidants
  • Juicing raw cannabis provides a concentrated source of essential nutrients
  • Raw cannabis provides the perfect balance of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids
  • Raw cannabis is a potent anti-inflammatory
  • Raw cannabis contains neuroprotective properties
  • Raw cannabis is a complete protein
Tips for juicing raw cannabis

If you live in a state where you have legal access to fresh, raw cannabis, or can grow your own, it is recommended that you:
  • Use fresh and clean organic buds and leaves only (be sure that they have veganically grown without the use of animal manure).
  • Do not use cannabis that has been dried.
  • Use 15 leaves and 2 large buds per day.
